Writing exercises

Darling ones,

I was feeling a tad jaded quite recently on the writing front. I wasn't short on ideas, I hadn't got writer's block, I just felt a new approach would serve me well. I also wanted to try my hand at poetry, feeling that the form is similar to screenwriting in that it seems to be a distillation process. Thus it was that I purchased a most excellent book on writing petry called: WRITING POETRY AND GETTING PUBLISHED by Matthew Sweeney and John Hartley Williams. It's written in a very approachable style with plenty of poems and asides from the authors and other poets. The exercises are brilliant; very freeing and even for an accustomed writer full of fresh approaches to generating, focusing and sustaining ideas. Lock and Load is very pleased to commend it to your good selves. This sounds good. Will take a look at it. I love writing and reading poetry. Especially Anne Sexton.
